Development Advisory Board

The purpose of the Development Advisory Board is to assist the Congregation of the Sisters of Saint Joseph, Chestnut Hill, Philadelphia, in its efforts to gain the public interest and the voluntary financial support necessary for continuing its mission and ministries among the people of God.

Judy Beskid is a graduate of Penn State.   After taking an early retirement from Electronic Data Systems (EDS), where she had worked for 21 years as a systems engineer, she began a new job with Inclinator of America, managing their information systems department. Judy taught math and computer science courses and prior to that she co-owned and managed a restaurant and gift shop.

Connection to the Sisters of Saint Joseph: Judy and Sister Mary Gebhart became good friends when Sister Mary came to her home to minister to her ill mother.

Mr. Joseph Braunstein

Joe is a graduate of Drexel University having earned his BS in Finance in 1975. Joe has 36+ years in the Property/Casualty insurance industry. He started his career at TNA/Cigna (Philadelphia) in 1971 and joined Crum + Forster as Senior Vice President - Field Operations in 2000. Joe is also a member of the Board of Trustees at Holy Ghost Preparatory High School in Bensalem, PA.

Mrs. Jean Bond Brown

Jean is a graduate of University of Notre Dame and Villianova University School of Law. She is a member of the Montgomery Bar Association, and an active Mount Saint Joseph Academy alumna.

Terry has a BS in Business from Penn State and a Master’s in Education from Lehigh University. He was previously the Senior Development Officer at Lehigh University specializing in Major Gifts. He is currently the Development Director at Easter Seals.

Mrs. Christina Curci

Christina is a graduate of the Catholic University of America and the Temple University James E. Beasley School of Law.  She has been practicing commercial litigation for the past five years.

Ms. Mary Ellen Fise

Mary Ellen holds a bachelors degree in Consumer Economics from the University of Maryland and a law degree from the University of Baltimore. She is an attorney interested in social justice issues and is committed to this ministry in the Church.

Mr. Philip Guidi

Phil is the President of Mid-Atlantic Construction, Inc. He has his BS in Industrial Engineering from Lehigh University and his MBA from Drexel University. He is a member of St. Anthony of Padua Parish in Ambler and has been active as a member of many Board of Directors and is currently a member of the Caprenter's Company of Philadelphia and the Ambler Kiwanis Board of Directors.

Mrs. Rita Hughes

"I have been enriched by my association with the Sisters."

Rita has a B.S. in education from Saint Joseph University and an M.S. in education from Temple University. Prior to starting a family, she taught at Cathedral Grade School and Ludlow Public Grade School. She retired after 16 years at Norwood-Fontbonne Academy.
Connection to the Sisters of Saint Joseph: Rita has taught with and been associated with the Sisters of Saint Joseph at Cathedral School, Saint Bridget, her parish and Norwood-Fontbonne Academy.

Mr. Robert Lisowski

Bob received his bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from Villanova University and his MBA from Rutgers University. He is a parishioner at St. Philip & James in Exton and an active volunteer with the United Way. Bob and his wife Frances have been married over 30 years and have four children.
Connection to the Sisters of Saint Joseph: Bob's older sister Margaret was a member of our community and Bob was taught by Sisters of Saint Joseph at Saint Patrick's School.

"We all have that one sister who exemplifies the character we all strive to achieve. Mine was Sister Mary Scanlon, better known as Mother James Anthony to a Generation of Norwood grads. It is a pleasure to give something back in her honor."

Chris is a graduate of LaSalle University. For the past 25 years, he has been involved in Commercial Banking in Philadelphia. Chris is a long-standing and valued member of the Development Advisory Board for the Sisters of Saint Joseph.

Brian graduated from Franklin Marshall College with a B.A. in Business Administration in 1982. In 1983, He joined the sales agency working with his father and sister. He is involved with coaching town teams and is an assistant Boy Scout Leader. He is married with three children.
Connection to the Sisters of Saint Joseph: His aunt is Sister Beatrice McElrone. He is also connected with the sisters at his parish, Most Blessed Sacrament in Franklin Lakes, NJ.

Francine was Manager for Discover Card Services for ten years before becoming self-employed. She is a  Core Group Member of the Delaware Alliance of Catholic School Parents in Wilmington, DE.

Ms. Eileen Newcomb
Eileen is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania - Wharton School of Business where she received her bachelors degree. A member of Our Mother of Consolation parish in Philadelphia, she is active in many community organizations and is involved with many associations.

Mr. William H. Pugh

William is Managing Partner of the law firm of Kane, Pugh, Knoell, Troy & Kramer and a graduate of Villanova University School of Law. He is active in both the Montgomery and Pennsylvania Bar Associations. All four of Bill's daughters attended St. Genevieve School and Mount Saint Joseph Academy.

Mr. Michael J. Seif

A graduate of Northeast Catholic High School, Michael retired after thirty years as a Philadelphia Police Officer. He was awarded several commendations as a member of the Police Department's Mobile COmmunication Unit. After retiring, he worked nine years as an inspection supervisor in an industrial printing commpany. One of Michael's favorite hobbies is carpentry.

Mrs. Joanne Strobert

"I am truly blessed to be a part of the Sisters of Saint Joseph and their wonderful efforts. I call them the MO's - the Magnificent Ones!"

A graduate of Robert Morris College, Joanne has managed her own consulting and desktop publishing business for the past 20 years. Joanne’s client list included representation from a multitude of industries including financial services, insurance and professional services.  She also is an independent contractor as a sales specialist for MarketLauncher, Inc.  Prior to running her own business, Joanne worked in the public relations and advertising industry with Liberty Productions and The Neiman Group.

Joanne assisted in the planning of the 150th Anniversary celebration in McSherrystown.

Mr. John J. Zakreski

John is a graduate of the University of Delaware receiving a B.S. in Business Administration with focuses on Financial and Administrative Management. Prior to Tiedemann Trust, he was the Vice President for the J.P. Morgan Private Bank. John has a strong sense of volunteerism, sharing his time with AIDS Delaware, Nativity Preparatory School, the Winterthur Museum, Junior Achievement and his home parish of St. Helena's.
