Frustrated by the acrimony and divisiveness, that overwhelms our lives today—both in the real world and the virtual one—the SSJ Commission for Justice felt compelled to put positiveness into the world. In January 2018, the Commission formed a subcommittee to advance the concept. Social Justice Coordinator, Sister Colleen Dauerbach SSJ, shared: “The Commission wanted to create a way to celebrate the Lenten season with a positive spirit.” The subcommittee included Sister Colleen, Sister Eileen Marnien SSJ, Congregational Vice president and Carolyn Jenkins, a Commission member and SSJ Associate.” Since knowing social media would be the primary tool for reaching the most people, the trio recruited Cristina Diaz, Social Media Specialist for a brainstorming session. “The words to love boldly surfaced. In 2018, Ash Wednesday and Valentine’s Day converged. We recognized that call and our SSJ mission—to love boldly as we live and work so that all people may be united with God and with one another.” The congregation’s first social media campaign, #LoveBoldly, was born.
