Sister Jane Marie Hill

Sister Jane Marie Hill, formerly, Sister Eileen Francis, died on July 2, 2020. Daughter of Eileen and Francis Hill, Jane and her family were parishioners of St. Joseph’s Church in Collingdale, Pa.

Sister Jane attended St. Joseph Parish School and Notre Dame High School in Moylan.  After graduation from high school, she followed her desire to become a Sister of Saint Joseph.

Sister Jane was well-prepared for the many ministries that she had during her 70 years of active ministry. She taught in elementary schools and in high schools, serving in Philadelphia, Wilmington, and in New Jersey.  As principal, director of religious education, pastoral minister, bereavement and evangelization Minister, Sister Jane enjoyed a full and varied life of dedication.

A resident of Saint Joseph Villa since 2019, Sister Jane, reflecting on her full and active life as a religious, said, “My life has been filled with love, service, and joy. I thank God every day for my vocation to the vowed life.”

Sister Jane was assigned to our parish, St. Joseph’s in Somers Point, for her last ministry before moving to the Villa. She started a Bereavement Ministry for the parish which was well-received and helped to make the funeral Masses more meaningful to families. Sister was a frequent visitor to the regional school’s monthly Masses along with other times when she would be noticed sitting in the back of the church. She was always outgoing, pleasant, smiling and a positive presence to all. When she moved to the Villa, she was missed by many. May she enjoy the eternal blessings of a “life well-lived.”
